About King's Church 1066

Going on mission

Luke 10:1-12

Going on mission

Jesus has called us to extend His Kingdom wherever we go: when we take His mercy, power, compassion, hope, etc., into our workplaces, neighbourhoods and families, we can expect to see people attracted to who Jesus is and wanting to find out more.

We want every member of King’s Church 1066 to be equipped and empowered for mission, both telling people about Jesus and demonstrating His Kingdom through signs, wonders and acts of mercy. Its about actively bringing the Kingdom wherever we are, knowing that when we turn up, the Holy Spirit is right there with us.

Making disciples

Mark 10:17-31

Being a disciple isn’t predominantly about attending church, stopping bad habits and doing some good works. It’s about following Jesus! Jesus wants our whole hearts. When we follow Him, we are transformed to become more like Him (2 Corinthians 3:18).

We want King’s Church 1066 to increasingly be a place where Christians become mature disciples, caught up in the great adventure of following Jesus, leading others to Him and helping others to mature in their faith too.

Care for those in poverty

Matthew 25:31-46

Care for those in poverty

Jesus makes it abundantly clear that how we treat people in poverty is an indicator of how well we know Him. He spent a great deal of time with those in need, from life-long beggars to shamed prostitutes, from ostracised tax collectors to those who were sick or in turmoil, showing compassion to everyone He encountered.

We want King’s Church 1066 to be characterised by compassion that translates into action as we support the poorest and most vulnerable in our communities.

Leadership

Hundreds of people are involved in the day-to-day life of King’s Church 1066, from Connect Group leaders to social action volunteers to the pastoral team. The church is led by a team of elders – currently these are Paul Mann, Sam Akrasi, Steve Young and Richard Wilson. The elders are accountable to our trustees – currently Paul Rackstraw (chair), Theresa Mummery, Andrew Phillips and Natalie Williams. Each venue has its own leader(s), leadership team and serving teams.
